Introduction Community participation in resource management essentially means sustainable use and management of natural resources by people, living in and around a region integrated ecologically, socially and culturally. Age-old traditional practices have often been neglected in this modernizing world. Yet, traditional practices that have been sustained over generations may provide insights for developing sustainable practices in the present scenario. While some traditional practices may be preserved as such, others might need some modifications depending upon their strengths and weaknesses in addressing the present/future problems.
